Joomla - alternates?
Posted by admin | Filed under Programming Design
I was using Joomla at bluehost, and bluehost took Joomla away saying that it wasn’t stable. Anyone use Joomla? What is better - Joomla or Mambo? Any other open source CMS suggestions?

Volunteer to set up a series of applications for a charity website?
Posted by admin | Filed under Programming Design
I am looking for a volunteer who can configure the server to set up a series of applications which can integrate with each other securely.
I havent found the right hosting server yet (any suggestions are welcome). Server needs to be in the UK as the payments are easier (no exchange rates etc.). But the volunteers can be anywhere in the world.
I am also thinking of utilising the open source tools installed thorough Fantastico such as mambo, phpbb, wordpress, phplist, phpsurveyor and so on.
I myself can do the development side of the things but I have to focus on the legal requirements of the charity (not yet registered), business operations as well as the functional requirements.
If you are interested, please reply to my email. If you have any suggestions, please reply here.
Thanks in advance
Little bit of more information:
Charity is aiming to:
-create a bridge between the patients/parents and the health professionals in a friendly environment
-create public awareness in non-clinical and clinical research
-build an infrastructure to share information among various communities, e.g., epidemiology departments, local charities and research institutes and research students
Charity’s focus will be in the field of childhood cancer which is not money making field for big companies to invest therefore I want to run it as a charity.

I am using Fanastico De Luxe to install a CMS, and didn’t realize that I had so many to choose from:
Drupal
Geeklog
Joomla 1.5
Joomla
Mambo Open Source
PHP-Nuke
phpWCMS
phpWebSite
Post-Nuke
Siteframe
TYPO3
Xoops
Just wondering what your favorite one is to use and why you think I should use it too?
